Flies: Mid June - Mid July

Mid June the water level is high and continues to drop slowly (unless it doesn’t rain, then it drops fast) through mid July. Mid June the landlocked salmon fishing is great and fades out as the water levels drop. The brook trout fishing improves as the water levels drop into July and the caddis hatches starting heating up. Dry fly paradise! 5 or 6 weight fly rods with both floating and sinking lines are ideal. 6-12 pound leaders and 4-12 pound tippet material is ideal. We cut off and tie on lots of flies every day, so bring plenty of leader and tippet.

Flies: Mid July - Mid August

As a rule of thumb, the water level is dropping and the hatches are really picking up. Rods should be 5 or 6 weights with both floating and sinking lines. We still run sinking lines in the fast current. Tapered leaders in the 6-10 pound class are ideal, with tippet material ranging from 4-12 pound test. Fly selections are similar to the flies used during mid June – July with a few additions.
